A Note from our partner Johnny Romero with InterSys, LLC.  InterSys will be responsible for training the students.

🚨This is history in the making 📰❤️
I’m very proud to announce that my company InterSys, LLC is partnering with the Clark County Equity Coalition to provide accredited 40-Hour Professional Interpreter training to bilingual proficients in their Senior year of High School 🏫

In cooperation with Dustin Howard, Clark County Schools Superintendent, Sarah Hessler, and Paul Anaya, MD PhD with the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, the initial pilot program for the 2024/2025 school year is now accepting applicants‼️

Special thanks to Donna Carter for taking the lead with this transformative #DEI initiative that will no doubt:

✅Serve as a model for other school districts to follow, implement, and execute.
✅Serve the underserved limited English proficient communities.
✅Train the next generation of bilingual front line workers with transferable skills.
✅Open the door to a satisfying career as a language service provider or health care provider.

Who Are We

The Clark county Equity Coalition is a grassroot effort that was born out of a group of parents and grandparents of children from Clark County and surrounding areas who live and/or work in Clark county.

Proactively, we joined together with a common cause to partner with the Board of Education, The Prichard Committee and the Clark County Schools to be a resource to the educational system, parents and the community and most of all our children.

It is our belief that, “If you’re proactive, you focus on preparing. If you’re reactive, you end up focusing on repairing.” ― John C. Maxwell.  This is our approach.  We do not want to wait for an incident to act.  The Equity Coalition would like to have assistance in place, be of service, and create brave spaces to have difficult conversations.  Our approach to this great work is realistic. We understand that we do not all have to agree to move forward.   We all have biases, but at the end of the day we are all working towards the same goal.

Work hand in hand with the BOE to identify gaps, hold space for brave, difficult discussions, and assist in improving overall staff representation for marginalized groups.

Clark County Black & Hispanic Achievers

Sept. 23rd Black & Hispanic .png

Clark County Black & Hispanic Achievers held our first General Session last Saturday! We had 31 Achievers from grades 6 to 12 attend and our Volunteers were ready to pour into all of the Achievers.

Vache King led the group through a communication skills exercise, as the Achievers and Volunteers had to go to someone they did not know, learn about them and then introduce their new friend to the group. We also learned about Notable Hispanic & African Americans by playing our own version of Family Feud. We had an awesome time!
